Education is one of the most important things in our lives. The greatest fact is that no one can ever steal your knowledge from you. What is more, intelligence offers you hundreds of life opportunities and opens you the door to better life.

There are so many high schools in my country, but from my point of view, our gymnasium is different and very special. Not only do you get amazing knowledge here, the possibility to travel and explore the world gives you a perfect opportunity to use everything you have already learned. It is the second year that is really special for each student. Are you asking why? The answer is simple - there is a rare chance to spend a whole week in a foreign country. Our gymnasium mostly offers majestic Italy, elegant France or a popular country like England. It was so exciting to hear, that Italy was an available option for my class. We would not even think about other countries; the choice was clear! I will not be lying when I say, it was a week full of fun, new experiences and memories. Those days were not only about the breath-taking views and tasty meals. While traveling across Italy, our friendships were getting stronger and stronger and we got to know a lot about each other.  

Aside from these wonderful sightseeing trips however, there are many other excursions, culture and class trips, that our teachers organize for us. If you are interested in physics and sports, you can sign up for a trip to CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research combined with a visit to the Olympic Museum in nearby Lausanne. For those willing to lend a helping hand and learn about history at the same time there was a trip to medieval town of Banská Štiavnica, listed as a UNESCO Heritage site, where groups of students helped restore and learned about a famous historical sight – The Stations of the Cross. Not to mention the numerous opportunities to visit famous art galleries in nearby Vienna or theatrical performances in the capital city of Bratislava. The choices are plentiful so everyone can find the right one for them.

In a nutshell, a good school can give you a lot of information, but only the best one will also give you so many lasting memories. I’ve been able to meet new friends, tried new local food and visit stunning places thanks to my school. As I can see it, there’s no better way how to motivate students.
